I can tell when I'm watching a film (motion picture at the movies or on television) and it is different that watching something that has been videotaped with a camcorder, but I can't describe the difference in what I'm seeing very well. Can anyone explain what the difference?

A film can have both video and audio tracks.
A simple video does not have audio capabilities.
Lately, all films, DVD, and any other type of visual communication has been typed as video.

I know what you are saying. Film has a certain quality to it that video lacks. I think it's due to 2 differences:
1. Film spends a lot more time on the audio, both initial quality and adding of sound effects and music. Video tends to have less initial quality and the editing is often much less sophisticated.
2. Film actually records far more visual information then video. Both resolution and color then video does.
